    Sector Development Strategy as part of the “Olive Oil Sector and Exports Development Project”- CBI Project

    As part of the development of the olive oil sector and exports project from Jordan to Europe applied by the Dutch organization; CBI, aiming to increase exports from developing countries, Competence Management Consulting and the concerned experts handed over the sector development strategy to His Excellency the Minister of Agriculture. This strategy was developed in partnership and cooperation with the relevant authorities in the sector: the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Center for Agricultural Research, the Syndicate of Olive Oil Press Owners, the Association of Olive Oil Producers and Exporters, as well as with farmers and mills through continuous workshops during a period of six months. This strategy aims, on the one hand, to promote and introduce the Jordanian olive oil product in European markets, and on the other hand, to develop the knowledge and skills of exporting stakeholders in the sector to achieve the requirements and requirements of the target markets.

    ضمن مشروع تطوير صادرات قطاع زيت الزيتون من الأردن الى أوروبا المطبق من المنظمة الهولندية لزيادة الصادرات من الدول النامية CBI، قامت شركة التفوق للاستشارات الأدارية والخبراء المعنيين بتسليم استراتيجية تطوير القطاع لمعالي وزير الزراعة. تم تطوير هذه الاستراتيجية بالتشارك والتعاون مع الجهات ذات العلاقة بالقطاع: وزارة الزراعة، المركز الوطني للبحوث الزراعية، نقابة أصحاب معاصر زيت الزيتون، جمعية منتجي ومصدري زيت الزيتون وكذلك مع المزارع والمعاصر من خلال ورشات عمل مستمرة خلال فترة ستة شهور. تهدف هذه الاستراتيجية من جهة إلى ترويج منتج زيت الزيتون الأردني والتعريف به في الأسواق الأوروبية، ومن جهة أخرى الى تطوير معرفة ومهارات التصدير لدى المعنيين في القطاع لتحقيق اشتراطات ومتطلبات الأسواق المستهدفة.

    Launching Event of “Assessment of the Economic Impact of COVID-19 on Women Owned MSMEs in Jordan” Study

    Competence Management Consulting (CMC) has recently implemented a project funded by the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) entitled “Assessment of the Economic Impact of COVID-19 on Women Owned MSMEs in Jordan”, and in cooperation with the Jordanian Business and Professional Women Forum. In light of this study, The Forum held a launching ceremony on Tuesday, September 27, 2021 under the patronage of Her Excellency Eng. Maha Ali, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply.

    The study was conducted on 503 MSMEs owned by women in which 74% of the sampled MSMEs were micro enterprises, 22% were small enterprises and 4% were medium sized enterprises. This study was conducted between December 2020 and May 2021.

    وأجريت هذه الدراسة على 503 شركات مملوكة من قبل السيدات وشكّلت الشركات متناهية الصغر نحو 74% من عينة الدراسة، فيما شكلت المتوسطة والصغيرة، 4% و22% على التوالي. وأجريت هذه الدراسة في الفترة ما بين كانون الأول 2020 وايار2021

    National stakeholder consultative workshop on value chain upgrading strategies

    The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply in collaboration with Competence Management Consulting (CMC) recently held a workshop on upgrading value chains.

    The workshop was held with support from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and covered the garment, food supplement, and natural cosmetics sectors, according to a joint statement.

    As part of the LevelUP — Advancing Jordanian Industries project, the workshop was conducted to identify major constraints, growth bottlenecks, and untapped development opportunities. It also focused on improving the economic inclusion of women and youth in the selected value chains. Based on the findings of a joint analysis, drafted upgrade strategies and related action plans have also been formulated.

    The consultative workshop served as a platform to facilitate collaboration and foster a stakeholder-based approach to draft action plans meant to upgrade value chains and bring together decision-level representatives.

    The workshop assisted in reaching a consensus on interventions required to develop the targeted value chains for increased women and youth inclusiveness, including priority policy and institutional recommendations, specific interventions at the enterprise level, and the necessary advocacy efforts for implementation in Jordan, according to the statement.

    The workshop is only one part of the project aiming to create job opportunities for women and youth — including through self-employment — and support inclusive and sustainable industrial development.

    Successful Participation in Trade Fairs Workshop

    Competence Management Consulting conducted a two- days’ workshop for the Business and Professional Women Association (BPWA) to develop promotion skills through participation in international trade fairs, as the workshop included focusing on the main stages of managing participation in exhibitions, which include the preparatory phase (pre-participation), and then the actual participation phase, and finally, the follow-up phase (after the exhibition), where the material included academic and practical content in which practical experiences and previous experiences of the participating experts were shared.

    Below are some highlights from the workshops which are considered to be the second wave of the Export Enhancement Program as a part of BPWA newly established Women Export Unit “Wexport”.

    Competence Management Consulting (CMC) signed a memorandum of understanding with Business and Professional Women Association (BPWA)

    Competence Management Consulting (CMC) signed a memorandum of understanding with Business and Professional Women Association (BPWA) as part of their project of launching a  “Women Export Unit” funded by GIZ/ trade for employment project.

    The memorandum was signed on behalf of CMC Director Mr. Adnan Ziadat by Eng. Jumana Musharbash and BPWA President Eng. Rana Abweh—is to establish a long-term cooperation in providing export promotion and capacity building to women owned businesses in Jordan.

     Mr. Adnan Ziadat stressed the importance of the cooperation with BPWA to strengthen the technical and advisory capabilities needed to further grow women-owned businesses. Earlier this year, CMC started providing trainings to the members of BPWA on export promotion and trade fair participation.

    Exporting Olive Oil from Jordan Sector-Transition Through Trade تصدير زيت الزيتون من القطاع الأردني – التحول والتغيير عن طريق التجارة

    CBI in collaboration with CMC conducted a meeting at Jordan Chamber of Industry for the purpose of developing Jordan’s olive oil sector, as this meeting aimed to discuss the road map with all the institutional stakeholders to develop sector strategy and platform to generate a high-quality and sustainable value chain generating sales to international markets, SMEs from this project are expected to be more competitive to export extra virgin olive oil, and procure more sustainably processed and grown olives, and also enhance the quality standards of olive oil.

    This meeting was held on the 2nd of Feb 2021, and it was hybrid between online and face to face meeting, below are some highlights from this meeting:

    قامت شركة التفوق للاستشارات الادارية بتقديم ورشة عمل لمدة يومين لجمعية (سيدات الأعمال والمهن الأردنية) لتطوير مهارات الترويج من خلال المشاركة في المعارض التجارية الدولية حيث تضمنت الورشة التركيز على المراحل الرئيسية لادارة المشاركة في المعارض والتي تتضمن المرحلة التحضيرية (ماقبل المشاركة)، ومن ثم مرحلة المشاركة الفعلية ، وأخيراً مرحلة المتابعة (مابعد المعرض) ، حيث تضمنت المادة محتوى أكاديمي وعملي بحيث تم مشاركة خبرات عملية وتجارب سابقة من الخبراء المشاركين .

    “Grow your business through export” Conducted Session

    Competence Management Consulting director and founder Mr. Adnan Ziadat, conducted an online awareness session on Thursday DEC. 10th in cooperation with Oasis500, about how to “Grow your business through export” which targeted a pool of startups.

    This online session helped the attendees to enhance their knowledge about the growth strategies and export development which would help them start their first steps on the right direction to grow their businesses.

    Growing a business is easier said than done. Companies of every size face challenges that suppress their growth. A company might have a great product or service but no business growth strategy to help it define, articulate and communicate where it is going.

    A growth strategy should be always part of the annual plan and can be difficult to develop if you’re unfamiliar with the road map and the strategic options of growth.

    In our Thursday session with Oasis 500 startups, our expert Mr. Adnan Ziadat explained the steps needed to build a successful strategic growth plan.
